Adventure World – GoliathClient Adventure World Year 2016 – 2017 Value $1M Our Role Project Manager
Adventure World (AW) engaged Insight Project Services (IPS) to coordinate, manage the design and documentation of the building and infrastructure works and then procure a contractor capable of delivering the project in the winter seasonal shutdown period.
The Goliath is Australia’s tallest pendulum ride and swings a 30 person gondola up to 27 metres into the air which requires specialised concrete footings with very fine construction tolerances, not to mention a new electrical distribution system to drive the motor that swings the huge gondola nearly 30 metres into the air.
IPS liaised with the ride manufacturer (Intamin) and their electrical consultants (Inutec) (based out of Holland) to ensure the building specifications were met to allow the ride installation team to fly in and erect, commission and handover the ride with minimal fuss.
The project required close coordination with Intamin, a specialist theming manufacturer, the construction contractor and AW engineering. There were obstacles to overcome with piled foundations being installed in a heavily inground serviced area with significant site coordination required to provide access for the piling rig, the concrete trucks and finally the 4 cranes required to erect the ride.
The project ran on time and was opened for the 2017 summer season.
